Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer dusted or mixed
with powdered gold, silver, or platinum. As a philosophy, it treats breakage and
repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise.
The concept that I most like about Kintsugi is that the broken object becomes a
being, a gesture, a graphic which has become an important tool, and metaphorically,
the wound, the trace of darkness and the window of light.
